Embedded Difficulty Adjustment in Games

I have definite limits when it comes to playing a video game. In my experience, when I’m playing a platformer or a puzzle game, sometimes I hit a brick wall. For some games, I just don’t have the skill to get past that brick wall. At that point I usually give up, discouraged, and move on to another game.

Jenova Chen (pictured above… yeah, that’s not me you fools) proposes another possibility for handicapped gamers such as myself: EDA (Embedded Difficulty Adjustment).  Check out this interview by Joystiq.

  1. Interesting concept. I hate when I run into a wall. There’s a level on Blazing Angels that I can’t get past. It seems like one of those hurdles where once you “get it” it’s easy, but I just don’t “get it” yet. And unfortunately it’s not very far into the game. I haven’t played it since
