Anybody ever finish a game of Monopoly

I finished watching VH1′s “I Love Toys“. The show counts down the Top 100 Toys Of All Time. Monopoly chimed in at #6. I’ve played the game maybe 6 times in my life and all those times, everyone playing lost interest and quit. Have you ever finished a game of Monopoly?

Double Standard?

What do the women pictured above have in common?  They were all teachers who had sexual relations with under aged minors (read: high school students and younger).  This article in WorldNetDaily chronicles these convicted women.  What I found interesting is how a lot of them were able to avoid jail time.  Just imagine if these were male teachers.  What do you think?

Backpack Technology

How cool would it be to charge your backpack full of technology while you hike?  There’s nothing like getting back to nature using the latest in technology. :)

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania are developing two backpacks:

  1. One is a power-generating backpack (pictured left) that uses the natural bobbing motion of your walk to produce energy.
  2. The other is a weight-distribution backpack (pictured right) that eases your burden by as much as 40% by keeping the backpack stationary as you walk.

PermaTabs Firefox Extension

I love tabbed browsing.  This firefox extension makes tabbed browsing even more useful.  If you’ve ever found yourself in a situation where you want certain tabs to always stick around even if “Close All Tabs” was selected, get PermaTabs.  This really beats individually closing out each tab.

Will It Blend?

Found this while YouTubeing last night, Blenders on Steroids. These are the same blenders used to blend frappuccinos @ Starbucks. Check out the “Don’t Try This @ Home” section. =D

Sr. Peter Claver’s Gospel Choir

This past September, I had the opportunity to work with the amazing St. Peter Claver’s Gospel Choir from New Orleans. Thanks to Tom (the saxophonist in Track 9), we have a recording of this wonderful concert.

My Favorites:

Tracks 1 – 8 are the gospel choir. Tracks 9 – 13 are both our choir and their choir combined. Myla has a solo in Track 11. I have an out of control piano solo in Track 9. (hehehe) I forget which track off the top of my head, but there is one where I took over playing the piano in the middle of the song. It’s the track where you hear Veronica, their choir director, say “Mikey! Where are you Mikey?” :)

Listening to them sing makes me feel good about the world. Most of them lost their homes during the hurricane, and yet here they are persevering and making music.

RIAA Going After Children

I guess stealing candy from babies is on the RIAA’s agenda.  What do you guys think?  Going too far or completely justified?

This Inspries Me. This Makes Me Cry.

Here is a clip from the “Art of Piano” documentary (that is on my Christmas Wishlist).  Vladimir Horowitz (master of octaves) is playing variations on a theme from Bizet’s Carmen.  Gyorgy Cziffra is playing Liszt (and I think he was Liszt reincarnate).
