How Long To Keep Documents Around
Lifehacker has a great post on how long you should keep your financial records around. With taxes coming around, this might be handy.
It’s here…

Windows Vista
It’s sitting on my Coffee Table, in a Shinny Plastic Box. I’ll be on vacation next week so I’m holding off on the installation till then.
Kiss my “Windows User ASS”, Steve Jobs!!!

Name That Tune
Ever run into a situation where you have a song stuck in your head, but you can’t remember the title or artist? You can hum it, but that’s about it. Apparently you aren’t the only one with that problem.
Some guys thought it was a big enough problem to warrant creating a website dedicated to helping you figure out what that song is. Check it out.
Any Video File to DVD
Here’s yet another bit of software that can potentially take any type of video media file, convert it to MPEG-2, and then burn it to DVD.
Best part about it? It’s free.
Ministry of Peace
There are plans in the making to install X-ray cameras in the UK. Welcome, Ministry of Peace.
Apple Approached Verizon First
So apparently Apple approached Verizon to be the carrier of the iPhone before they approached Cingular. I’m not surprised Verizon declined to reach a “mutually beneficial” agreement. Apple’s M.O. suggests that they like to keep the reigns on everything. Is that a Pyrrhic policy?
Brainstorming Tool
If you’re ever in a brain-storming session and you want a quick way to jot your ideas down and how they connect with each other, check out bubbl.us.
It’s free and pretty easy to use. You start typing your idea down. Hitting <ENTER> creates a new child of that box. Hitting <TAB> creates a new sibling of that box. That’s all.
Caffeinated Donuts
Wow, an even more efficient way of getting your sugar and caffeine in the morning. Cops everywhere are rejoicing!
Apparently each donut has the caffeine equivalent of two cups of coffee. Wow. Just wow.
Pop-Up Ads Lead to Jail Time?
I find this entire situation ridiculous. Will law ever catch up with technology? I’m thinking no. What do you guys think?
Julie Amero, a substitute teacher in Norwich, Connecticut, has been
convicted of impairing the morals of a child and risking injury to a
minor by exposing as many as ten seventh-grade students to porn sites. The story is short: On October, 19, 2004, Amero was a substitute
teacher for a seventh-grade language class at Kelly Middle School. A
few students were crowded around a PC; some were giggling. She
investigated and saw the kids looking at a barrage of graphic,
hard-core pornographic pop-ups.The prosecution contended that she had used the computer to visit porn sites.
The defense said that wasn’t true and argued that the machine was
infested with spyware and malware, and that opening the browser caused
the computer to go into an endless loop of pop-ups leading to porn
sites.
