I’m curious as to the pricing, but definitely a smart move by Comcast. I think an integrated DVR/STB (Tivo inside your cable box) is the way to go and will deprecate the much inferior Tivo standalone options which require encoding and decoding twice in and out of two boxes. Unfortunately, I’m too heavily invested in DirecTV right now with 2 HD-Tivos and 1 DirecTivo, otherwise I’d switch. With the issues DirecTV is having with their Tivos (a lot of people complaining about corrupted Season Passes) and the unknown future between the two companies, a lot of people appear to be switching over to Comcast, DishNetwork and other options.
I haven’t spent too much time on other DVRs, but I really do love Tivo’s features and interface over all others.
