Morning Cup O' Joe

Time you enjoy wasting isn't wasted time.

If there is a “Final Fantasy Killer” out there…

… this game comes real close.

  1. Impressive visuals.

I think that calling this a Final Fantasy killer is a little premature.

Also, coming from someone who admits he’s not an RPG-gamer, I take even more grains of salt. ;)

  2. I’ve been looking forward to this one ever since it’s been advertised on Penny Arcade. I’d like to give this a try but I still have FF12 that I haven’t started. Too many games, too little time.

  3. True True…

Honestly, traditional RPGs are abit passive for me. Line up you characters, que up your actions and go. Since PS1, I’ve never finished any of the Final Fantasies. But from what I hear FF XII is a bit of a departure from the previous FFs

I’m more into Action Adventure RPG (ie. Kingdom Heart Series & Okami).

Also, I’ve been on this Cel-Shaded Graphics Trip ever since the release of Okami.

  4. I really love Final Fantasy XII. That being said, the battle system is a slight departure in the sense that it’s more of a meta programming language that can automate a traditional FF battle. They didn’t really “revolutionize” the battle system. They just made it so that you can do the same stuff auto-magically.

I kind of like it though since it appeals to the programming nerd in me. Level grinding has never been easier. ;) hahaha You literally just run your characters around and they kick ass. If you setup your characters perfectly for an area, you literally don’t have to hit any buttons. You just run them around.

Of course, you always have the option of going completely manual, but why do that when you can level grind while reading a book or something. j/k (I’ve never done that.)

  5. That sucks!!!

“Level Grinding” and “Ass Flattening” is the Corner Stone of Final Fantasy RPGs.

  6. That’s funny because back in the days when I had a Macintosh.

Yeah, yeah, yeah… MS Vista Fanboy once had a MAC, but it was called a Macintosh “Classic” back then. Cute little thing tho, It had a 40MB hard drive and 4 Megs Ram and ran MAC OS 7.0.1.

Ahh… those were the days. The days when “Nitch Macintosh Users” were content to just type word documents and run the occational speadsheet on their “Toaster Boxes”. Unlike now where MAC users go out of their way to tell perfectly content Windows users that their lives would be so much better if they had a MAC. Run Away… Run Away from MAC people. They are trying to get you to join the Church of Jobs Cult.

Anyways… what was I talking about? Oh… I had this RPG where I set-up this MACRO to run all my Characters in a loop at a certain point in the game. Well, I let the MACRO run and in less than an hours time all my Characters were MAXED OUT with a shit load of Gold.

HA HA HA… I am the MAN!!!

  7. I wouldn’t call it the cornerstone of Final Fantasy, Bernard. Most RPGs have a “grinding” element to them.

I don’t know if you’re just trying to spark debate for fun or what not, but making uninformed and ignorant claims against things you haven’t given a decent trial run is probably not a good idea. It just makes you look, well… ignorant. That’s the worst kind of religious zealot: the one who zealously puts down others because of mismatching beliefs. It seems more like fear of the unknown to me.

You seem to have a lot of beef against Apple in general. That’s fine. You’re entitled to that. But seriously try not to be offensive. As Morgan puts it, these are just tools we use. They aren’t a religious cult. A good portion of the readership here use both Macs and PCs on a daily basis.

I created Morning Cup O’ Joe to be a fun place to share and discuss cool and thought-provoking things with friends. Let’s try not to offend anybody, mmkay?

  8. Oh, and Final Fantasy still rocks. It’s not perfect, but it rocks. It rocks hard enough for a group of people to create and perform in a concert where a large portion of the music comes from the Final Fantasy franchise. ;)

Everyone always has to knock down the guy on top. ;) hehehe

  9. Just poking fun @ the Apple Camp, that’s all.

Beleive it or not, I know OS X “Is the better of the Two” and I’ve posted in the past that I’d jump ship if the need arose. But at the moment I’m content with “Beta Testing” the final release of Vista ;D

Can’t we all just get along?

    Relax =D

    Agreed… FF still rocks!!!

  10. Finished my first long session of this game and it plays alot like Kindom Hearts II. Which means it’s a Action Adventure RPG.

    Cool game so far.
