The 1mm x 1mm LED pictured above supposedly outputs about 1,000 lumens of light.  Why is that significant?  Well, LEDs use less energy, are brighter, and last much longer than tungsten and halogen bulbs.  I’m sold.

  1. All thou not as long lasting or energy efficient, I prefer Compact Fluorescence which can come close to the warm quality of tungsten & halogen.

Also check out the prices for LEDs!!!

  2. Then again, over the long haul. LEDs may be the way to go. You just have to get over the initial sticker shock of LEDs.

  3. I think that once general acceptance of LEDs becomes apparent, mass production will begin and the price point will go down.
