It all makes sense when you view the media as a form of entertainment. The media wants consumers to take interest in the warez it’s peddling just like any other product manufacturer.
The best way to do that is to put just such controversial lameness on the front page. We all know Thompson’s a moron. But as long as we consumers still enjoy having a chance to call him that, they’ll keep giving us what we want.
