Music++
Christopher Raphael has developed a computer-based music accompaniment system (dubbed Music Plus One) that can adjust to the dynamic and rhythmic nuances of a human musician. Unlike your normal “Minus-One” karaoke tapes, the musician isn’t explicitly led by the nose by the computer. Rather, the computer listens to the musician and makes adjustments on the fly like an actual accompanist.
Check out his site and give a listen to his samples. Pretty neat stuff.
Looks like I’ll be out of a job as an accompanist fairly soon.
