Voice Applications Day?
I didn’t really plan on investigating voice applications today, but I stumbled across a few in doing some research on GTD productivity and looking at some various tools that were mentioned in comments.
jott.com — This one has some scary potential. Potential to become addictive and then I can see the fees coming, but for now it’s free. Call an 800 number, speak a recipient (“Me”, “Team”, …) and then record a message. Jott transcribes it and sends an email on to the intended audience. Looks like a great way to send email reminders from your phone without texting it.
tellme.com – A friend went to work for TellMe 7 years ago or so. They are still in business and have been snatched up by Microsoft. They’ve still got a pretty cool product. Looks like Goog411 is encroaching, but TellMe will give you movie listing, restaurants, sports and other info via voice commands and voice prompts.
