The Future of Libraries

Unfortunately, with the ubiquitousness of the internets (and all its tubes), libraries seem to be going the way of the shambling wooly mammoth.  What will happen to books?  I think the visceral feeling of reading a physical book won’t go away anytime soon, but projects like this make me pause.

Airport Check-In Kiosks in the ER?

Considering my recent horrible airport experience, I’m not quite sure what to think about the idea of having electronic check-in kiosks in hospital ERs.  I guess if executed properly, it could help.  I just hope it doesn’t lead to more staff reduction in hospitals.

“… The 80 GB PS3 will be the first NTSC released PS3 without the PS2 Emotion Engine hardware. We received confirmation from SCEA that the PS3 80 GB model will not use the current PS3′s 20GB/60GB PS2 Emotion Engine hardware, used in running Playstation 2 games on the PS3. “The current 60 GB model utilizes a hardware and solution for backwards compatibility, namely the Emotion Engine chip. The new 80 GB PS3 will use a software solution for backwards compatibility, similar to that currently found in the PAL model,” said Kimberly Otzman, SCEA Corporate Communications Representative.”
