I’m not surprised that the government is searching for new incentives for people to join the army. We live in an age where blind patriotism is a dwindling commodity… well, depending on the population growth of middle America. ;)

People in places of power (or who had enough money to create power) were able to get their kids names off the list.

If the military is hurting for recruits, reinstate the Draft.

Why reinstate the draft?

The Draft is fair… Every able bodied citizen will have to serve; from the daughter of the CEO of Fortune 500 Company to the son of a Garbage Collector.
