Is Virtual Schooling the Way to Go?
In the Orlando-based Florida Virtual School, “students get their lessons online and communicate with their teachers and each other through chat rooms, e-mail, telephone and instant messaging.” The girl pictured above was getting D’s and F’s in a regular school. She claimed that she was not getting the attention she needed. After making the move to a virtual school, she’s getting that individual attention and is now earning A’s and B’s. Opponents argue that virtual schooling is detrimental to a child’s social development.
