Keeping with the Whedon Theme… Well, sort of
Watched my first episode of Moonlight (granted it was Episode 2, I had to work the night of the premier episode).
My first impression of Moonlight… It’s nothing like Angel. Yeah sure… Mick St. John (Alex O’Loughlin) is a P.I. in Los Angeles, so was Angel. Mick is a Vampire seeking redemption, so was Angel. But that is where the parallels end between the two Vampire Private Investigators. The two shows are so different from each other, even the Vampire Mythologies are different.
Sunlight + Mick St. John = Generalized Malaise
Sunlight + Angel = Lots of screaming followed by spontaneous combustion
Wooden Stake to the Heart + Mick St. John = Paralysis (that’s new…)
Wooden Stake to the Heart + Angel = Lots of screaming followed by spontaneous combustion
Silver Bullets + Mick St. John = Hurts like hell but no Dust in the end
Silver Bullets + Angel = are you kidding me!?! Isn’t that a Werewolf thing?
Moonlight plays more like a Crime Drama and the main character just happens to be a Vampire. Anyways, is Moonlight a show worth watching or at the least TiVo-ing? I’m going to say a half hearted yes. I’m going to give the show a chance only because of the “Novelty” of it. =D
