Morning Cup O' Joe

Time you enjoy wasting isn't wasted time.

That must’ve taken some effort.

I guess if you wanted to setup your own post-apocalyptic wasteland model, you can get these collectable toys. Not depressing at all!

The 12 Days of Christmas – Straight, No Chaser

Acapella group Straight, No Chaser has a great medley of The 12 Days of Christmas.

And, as usual, YouTube commenters never fail to spread anonymous hate and unjoy:

Useful Body Art?

Something about these appeals to my inner OCD for efficiency. Luckily, that inner OCD is balanced by my penchant for laziness and procrastination.

Nissan GT-R’s GPS-enabled Speed Limiter System

 Assets Resources 2007 10 Nissan5
You know which audience Nissan is targeting when it hires UI designers from the Gran Turismo games on Playstation to design the interior console displays.

Here’s another juicy tidbit of techno-geekery: The Japanese GT-R model will automatically disable its speed limiter when it detects, via GPS, that it is on a racetrack. No news yet if that functionality will make it to the North American models.

I’m all about keyboard application launchers like Quicksilver (for Mac) and Launchy (for Windows). Launchy just kicked it up a notch with a new release.

Have yourself a Geeky little Christmas

At 4.8 Watts per string, I guess everyone is going Green this Holiday Season.

Philips Led Christmas Lights

This is my Tree Pimped Out with LEDs

6 Stings

60 LEDs per String

Going by what the box says, that’s a total of 30 Watts

Using 6 conventional strings would total about 150 Watts.

Waves 1 Coast Guard 0 – Down, but not out.

A friend sent me some pictures.  They were a little grainy and some just didn’t look quite right so I doubted the authenticity.  A few checks on google for Morro Bay, December 4, Coast Guard and sure enough the story and photos are true.  For reference, that is a 47ft Motor Life Boat (MLB) that the Morro Bay station operates.  They are thankfully self righting.   Apparently nobody was hurt.   Technically this is referred to as a knockdown since the boat only ended up on its side and didn’t go completely upside down.

Star Trek TOS Wasn’t About Trekking Through Stars

Startrektoswomen
It was all about Captain Kirk and his alien promiscuity! Imagine Kirk’s special ability to somehow adapt to alien physiology and overpower them with his testosterone.

Flickr user Poletti is collecting images of all the women that have appeared on Star Trek TOS.

Wooden Supercar

Splinter
From Gizmodo:

A group of students from North Carolina State University, led by industrial design student Joe Harmon, are building Splinter as part of a thesis project. Harmon and his car dons intend to look at how to work with wood in car designs, so Splinter even has wooden components in its suspension and chassis.

Crafting a car like this has required them to come up with some innovative uses of laminated wood—the wheels are made of carefully cut and layered oak veneers strong enough to take the stress of a 2,500-pound body—that’s as heavy as two Smart cars. And how do you stop the heat from its powerful mid-located V8 from setting fire to the body? Turn parts of it upside down so the exhaust vents over the top of the engine, and incorporate the muffler into the rear wing, where it can also aid downforce.
