Google Voice
Google has unleashed upon us its rebranding of GrandCentral with neato features like Voicemail transcription.
When I logged into my GrandCentral account, I was given the option to keep GrandCentral or to upgrade to Google Voice. I’ve futzed around with the interface a little and am very impressed by its Gmail-like feel. I also tested out the free SMS capability and it works like a charm.

No Google Love for Designers
If you are passionate about good (aesthetic) design, Google is probably not the place for you.
The only company that readily comes to mind that has a true design philosophy from the top all the way down is Apple. Imagine if more companies integrated that level of commitment. What I find most interesting is how commonplace it is for engineers to make design decisions. I’m not knocking on the utility and soundness of solid feature implementation–I’m just saying that design aesthetics are very subjective and most likely not very intuitive for analytically minded people.
Nice find, Emilio!
Beautiful iPhone Photography

Being an avid photography hobbyist, one of the things that always annoys me is when someone attributes the beauty of a photo to the camera and equipment rather than the skill and execution of the photographer.
As an example of true photographic skill, I present to you these amazing photos, all taken with an iPhone.
I’m so inspired by these shots that I’m already considering an iPhone-only photo-a-day project.

UP – Pixar’s Next Movie
I have to admit I was a little dubious when I saw teasers for Pixar’s next movie, but after seeing this trailer, I’m pretty excited about the possibilities. C’mon, a dog with a collar that enables it to talk? Genius!

Star Trek Cologne
“Live every day as if it could be your last, with ‘Red Shirt’ cologne.”
Nice find, Tye.
Kindle App for iPhone

Amazon just released their aptly named “Kindle for iPhone” app (iTunes link) for the… uh… iPhone. It’s free, and it syncs books and bookmarks between your iPhone and your Kindle (if you have one).
I’m pretty excited about building up a library of reference books, though.
I took some screenshots of me grabbing a sample:

I’m using the smallest font setting for the screenshot above. You can adjust font size and bookmark and all that jazz. Pretty nifty!
UPDATE: There’s no search functionality in this app. Boo!
