David Gallo: Underwater astonishments
Some very cool critters from the oceans, makes me pause for second before ordering calamari. Just a second though.

Enzyte a Fraud? Say it ain’t so!

I for one am shocked, shocked I say, at the realization that Enzyte is not a valid product for male enhancement. With such cheery ads and the 50′s Era Happy Housewife, it just seemed like a sure thing.
Apparently it did for enough people to fork over nearly *cough* $100 Million for a phony product. At least the company founders are under investigation for fraud. Their practices are pretty unscrupulous, especially regarding credit card usage.
Here is the article discussing some of the slimy details of their little fraud factory.
I think my favorite part of reading the article was the Google Ad near the bottom for Enzyte at 40% off. Ironic no?

Take pictures like a Pro. Look like a Hobo?
A nice little collection of 10 Do It Yourself lighting projects for Photographers. Just don’t show up to your next wedding gig with a turkey roasting pan duct taped to your $1000 lense..

Waves 1 Coast Guard 0 – Down, but not out.
A friend sent me some pictures. They were a little grainy and some just didn’t look quite right so I doubted the authenticity. A few checks on google for Morro Bay, December 4, Coast Guard and sure enough the story and photos are true. For reference, that is a 47ft Motor Life Boat (MLB) that the Morro Bay station operates. They are thankfully self righting. Apparently nobody was hurt. Technically this is referred to as a knockdown since the boat only ended up on its side and didn’t go completely upside down.

iPhone working with Exchange, could it be?
I’m very close to just jumping on the bandwagon and buying an iPhone. I’ve continued to try and find examples of making it a more work (read Microsoft Exchange) friendly tool. While reading an article on why corporate America won’t support the iPhone, I found this link to a QA Engineer for the iPhone team at Apple, specializing in Exchange. Come on Steve, you know we want it…

Apple changes some terminal commands with Leopard
I know a few of the people on this thread are Mac users. Some of you even know what a terminal window is for. If so, a friend sent me this link on differences in Leopard between some of your beloved terminal commands. I haven’t bought my Mac yet, but I always like having Morning Cup O Joe as my technology repository for things I should remember. It’s so much more convenient than trying to remember where I saved that obscure bookmark.

Shockwaves near the speed of sound
Boy does this make me want to go to Fleet Week in San Francisco and buy a nice digital SLR. More pictures on the link, but assuming this isn’t a nice Photoshop job, it’s an impressive display.

Google Mac Developer Playground
For those of you running Apple hardware, or those of us thinking about purchasing a Mac, Google has a site dedicated to the development of tools specifically for the Mac platform. Pretty geeky stuff for the most part, but this is sort of the formation ground for new and nifty tools for your Mac.

Looking for radioactive material to test your geiger counter?

I never cease to be amazed by what you can buy on Amazon.com. Tell me that this doesn’t get you on some government watch list.
Oh and for the real humor, check out what people who buy Uranium are also likely to buy.

Redundant storage for the non-technical
I for one haven’t hit the point of feeling like I need a RAID at home, but as we move to a more and more electronic based society, trusting your data to a laptop drive and possibly a single external USB disk for backup starts getting a little sketchy. This product, while not cheap, may be a solution for those of us that just want simple stuff that works.
Drobo “The world’s first storage robot”. Somehow I kind of doubt the validity of that statement, but maybe it’s a device that your mom could actually upgrade storage on without having to understand how to format a drive or migrate data.
Interesting concept at least.
