Morning Cup O' Joe

Time you enjoy wasting isn't wasted time.

Melody Road

Have you ever noticed a change in pitch whenever you pass through a patch of ridged road? Japan takes it to the next level by creating actual melody lines in the road by varying the spaces between ridges. Driving over these roads at 28 mph seems to be the optimum speed for your listening pleasure.

  1. Very Cool!!!

Shorter the distance between grooves = Higher the pitch

    I think that’s right? =/

  2. Oh man, I’ve always said someone should do this! Awesome.

And yeah, Bernard, you’ve got it. Theoretically you could also vary the height of the bumps to change the loudness. (But at that point you start getting into little details such as reducing tire traction. Feh!)
