Now that I think about it, I can see some Conservative/Pro Iraq War group spinning it the other way.

  1. I was listening to National Public Radio(NPR) today and they were saying that the war has only cost us 600 billion compared to the now 3.6 Trillion deficit and stopping war spending wouldn’t make that much of a difference. The biggest costs comes from Social Security and Medicare.

  2. I had heard something like this a few years ago, as well. I don’t recall the exact numbers, but the war in Iraq was not at the top of the US spending chart. At the time, I *think* it was the last tax refund that was way up there at the top, but don’t quote me on that.

    I suppose an important thing to look at, too, is the rate of spending. Show us how much the war costs us per month, vs other things we spend on.
