Morning Cup O' Joe

Time you enjoy wasting isn't wasted time.

Taking GIMP and Running with it

Here are my first few of photos post processed with GIMP

(Click on the image to view the original capture)

All I did was Crop, adjusted Levels, Sharpened and bumped up the color saturation. So far I’m very impressed by the functionality of this FREE app. I guess I can hold off on buying Photoshop CS3 for a while

Next stop, Portraits.

If you want to see more GIMP images, there is a GIMP Users group on Flickr. And while you’re there check out the discussions, an excellent resource for GIMP Tips.

  1. My problem with GIMP has never been its capability but its interface. Unfortunately I’m too fast with Photoshop now to learn a new interface (I have heard of GIMPshop, but it never seemed to work…?) GIMP is a great program, though.

  2. I agree, I’m a long time Photoshop user with a set work flow. So when I first launched GIMP, I stared at it for a while.

Also GIMP does not run native to OSX so it bogs down after a while. I had to install something call X11 first for GIMP to work.

  3. I installed GIMPShop just now.

    It doesn’t work.
